We are always looking for new ideas from our members, and plan to feature articles and content that you submit. October 2008

The October 2008 newsletter includes an announcement of the release of DCMP’s “Keys to Access,” the Description Key and the Captioning Key. Also featured are suggestions on how to incorporate accessible media into a civics lesson (Election Day theme) and detailed information about COAT.

Archived Newsletters

September 2008–Announces the celebration of DCMP’s 50the anniversary and the launch of the DCMP@Fifty site. Other features include a focus on Deaf Awareness Week and a guest article by Jay Wyant of CaptionMax.

August 2008–Includes a “Back to School” message for teachers and parents, highlights Kevin Jones’ Google Video in the Classroom [PDF] article, and provides an update on the development of the Description Key.

May 2008–Highlights the release of DCMP’s new training tool, Equal Access in the Classroom, as well as the launch of DCMP’s Caption It Yourself™ initiative. May’s newsletter also includes links to a new article by DCMP manager Erma Belz and a new flyer with information about captioned and described titles for young children.

April 2008–Spring-themed edition with links and information about new titles available from the DCMP, a recap of the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind’s Read Captions Across America™ event, and information about the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology (COAT).

March 2008–Includes information and articles about Women's History Month and Deaf History Month as well as information about captioning YouTube videos.

January/February 2008–serves as a kick-off for 2008’s Read Captions Across America including information about RCAA, several links to useful RCAA materials, and information about the March 14th release of Horton Hears a Who with captions and description!.

December 2007–Highlights DCMP’s services for parents of children who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or deaf-blind. Links to two new articles for parents are included.

November 2007DCMP Clearinghouse & Gateway, Thanksgiving Flyers.

October 2007–New DCMP Web site, Halloween Flyer.
